Notes & Methodology

This analysis examines the portfolio composition of tracked impact investors in the FIIT Index, breaking down relationships by the type of financial institution funded.

Methodology Notes
  • Data source: FIIT Index database, current as of March 2026.
  • Institution types are classified based on regulatory status, operational model, and self-identification. The 11 types are: Bank, Microfinance Institution, NBFI, Fintech, Cooperative/SACCO, Investment Vehicle, Insurance, Social Enterprise, Holding Company, Other, and Not Specified.
  • Funder–institution links count the number of relationships, not capital amounts (which are not uniformly disclosed).
  • Limitations: Some institutions may be miscategorised or have type data that is out of date. The "Not Specified" category includes institutions where type could not be confirmed.
